Biography
Mark Combellick has been working in the television industry for over 12 years, pursuing his taste for adventure through the lens of his camera. As either a director of photography leading a team or a camera operator on a team, Mark’s style and professionalism are imprinted on the finished product.
Over the past seven years, his focus has been on projects that mirror his own passions. Discovery Channel’s “American Choppers,” “Monster Nation,” and one of America’s favorite’s “Deadliest Catch,” History’s Channel’s “Ax Men,” and an untitled series on the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race are just a few of his series projects. He co–produced and filmed the documentary “Mike Metzger: The Godfather of Motocross” and was on the launch team for the Al Gore–owned channel Current TV. Goldmine Films’ documentaries “Back from the Dead” and “Shake, Rattle & Roll” brought Mark closer to a familiar car culture from his childhood and provided an opportunity to move beyond video to 8mm and 16mm film.
As director of photography for action sports lifestyle network FUEL TV’s first reality series “Camp Woodward,” Mark worked with Director Dave Paine to create high–end production values on a small budget incorporating video, film, and high–definition video when appropriate.
Other projects include work with action sports clothing companies Hurley and REEF, specials for FUEL TV, reality TV series for broadcast networks NBC and FOX, and cable and satellite networks MTV, VH–1, SciFi Channel, ESPN, and Versus (formerly OLN).
A film school graduate from San Diego State University, Mark spent his off time surfing Wind ‘n Sea and Bird Rock or snowboarding in Lake Tahoe.
Not one to talk about his work, Mark recommends viewing his reel for a visual sample.
